How it works

We would like to explain to you how the Blumat Classic Houseplant works.
Water is drawn from a reservoir via a thin hose and dispensed directly to the plant via the ceramic cone. The water release can be controlled by positioning the water reservoir higher or lower. So, note that it is very important at what height the water reservoir is placed from the pot.

The water level in the water reservoir is at the height of or just slightly below the green Blumat cap.

This is the optimal position; watering is done depending on the moisture content in the soil.

Watering occurs at approx.: 75 ml / 24 hours or 125 ml / 24 hours with the XL

The water level in the water reservoir is clearly below the green Blumat cap.

Watering takes place depending on the moisture level in the soil. As the roots need more force to draw in the water, watering is reduced to approx.:

50 ml / 24 hours or 75 ml / 24 hours (XL)

The water level in the water reservoir is clearly above the green cap.

With this setting, the water flows from the reservoir into the cone, the Blumat Classic Houseplant therefore continuously waters even if the soil is already moist enough.

Water release can be up to 150 ml / 24 hours, or 200 ml / 24 hours (XL).

"Ideal for the holiday season!"

Assembly

Are you looking for a watering system for one plant or several? There are countless possibilities with Blumat! No complex installation is required. Fill Blumat Classic Houseplant with water and insert it into the soil, place the suction hose in a water reservoir and the automatic watering is ready. For larger plants and balcony plants, take several Blumat Classic Houseplant or Blumat Classic Houseplant XL.

Assembly is child's play!

  1. Pull off the green cap.
  2. Fill the ceramic cone to the brim with water.
  3. Press the cap onto the fully filled ceramic cone.
  4. Insert the Blumat into the soil in the root area. The ceramic cone should be completely in the soil.
  5. Place the hose in a water tank. The water flow can be regulated by raising or lowering the water tank. Done!

Tip: Do not fit the cap until the hose is already in the water tank. This pushes most of the air out of the hose and starts watering earlier.

Tips

When everything is working properly, the water is drawn in through the hose. The water level in the Blumat Classic Houseplant remains virtually unchanged. Top up the water reservoir in good time. If the water reservoir is empty, you need to refill the Blumat as well.

Long-term watering

For long-term watering It is best to use light-tight reservoirs, as this reduces the formation of algae. Water the plants additionally with the watering can every 4 - 6 weeks.

Maintenance

You can extend the life of the Blumat by thoroughly cleaning it once a year. To do this, open the Blumat and put both parts in warm water for about five minutes. Then press the cap firmly several times to flush contaminants from the hose. Clean the inside of the cone with a small brush and sand the outside with sandpaper.

Fertilizing

Fertilizing is hassle-free. To do this, simply add a little liquid fertilizer to the water in the reservoir.

With freshly repotted plants, turn the cone clockwise directly into the soft soil and then press the soil slightly.

In case of strong rooting or in very firm soil, pierce a suitable hole (preferably with the Blumat Corer) in the outer root zone. Fill the hole halfway with loose soil and water after. Then turn the Blumat Digital clockwise into the soil, fill the hole and then press the soil slightly.

TIP: The Blumat Corer is precisely adapted to the shape of the Blumat Digital and is the tool par excellence for placing the Blumat Digital.
